Emirates to connect Dubai and Helsinki with Finland’s only year-round non-stop UAE link
New service strengthens cooperation across technology, education and sustainable development
DUBAI – The UAE and Finland are set to gain a new aviation link as Emirates prepares to launch its Dubai-Helsinki route.
The upcoming service was highlighted at a promotional event in Helsinki earlier this week, bringing together senior officials, business representatives and travel industry figures. The event focused on the new connection and its potential to deepen economic, tourism and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The UAE Embassy in Helsinki, in cooperation with Emirates, hosted the event, titled “Bridging Dubai and Helsinki with Emirates”, at Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4. The new route will provide the only year-round, non-stop direct connection between Finland and the UAE, opening another travel option for leisure and corporate passengers.
UAE-Finland ties
The service comes as economic cooperation between the UAE and Finland continues to expand across several strategic areas. These include renewable energy, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, advanced technology, education, space and sustainable development.
The UAE is already Finland’s largest export market in the Gulf region. Non-oil bilateral trade between the two countries reached almost US$579 million in 2025, according to the joint press release.
The daily non-stop service is expected to provide Finnish companies with greater access to the UAE, while also strengthening connections to wider international markets through Dubai.
Amna Fikri, Ambassador of the UAE to Finland and Estonia, opened the event with remarks highlighting recent progress in bilateral relations. She described the new route as further evidence of the strength and continuity of the UAE-Finland partnership.
Omran Sharaf, UAE Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology, and Sakari Puisto, Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland, also addressed attendees as Guests of Honour.
Business boost
Sharaf highlighted the route’s role in improving connectivity, supporting bilateral trade flows, strengthening tourism and encouraging people-to-people links between the two countries.
Puisto said the new connection would further reinforce the existing commercial relationship while reflecting shared interest in expanding cooperation across strategic sectors.
Pierfrancesco Carino, Vice President of Emirates’ Commercial Operations in North and West Europe, followed with a detailed presentation on the new flight route. Kawthar Alkharoossi, Head of Investments Supports & Inducement at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented investment opportunities available in the UAE.
The event concluded with an open discussion and networking session involving representatives from government institutions, local authorities, businesses, hospitality and travel companies, and the diplomatic community.
